Contrary to all expectations and in contrast to other species, not all specimens pupate. This researcher continues to search for determining factors to distinguish larvae which enter the nymph stage and those which do not, retaining this neonatal configuration for an indefinite period. As observed, the term indefinite may be understood in its extreme: larvae do not show any signs of age or decrepitude. This researcher has had the opportunity to study a specimen that has passed through the hands of distinguished entymologists over the course of nearly a century. It is identical to other specimens in all respects but mass.
This ageless condition does not seem to pose any limits to cognitive development. The elder specimen was able to engage the research team on a variety of subjects, not only with the acuity expected of an average adult, but also with the distinguished erudition of a mind benefitting from the richness of its academic environment.
